About the No-Kill Movement

A no-kill shelter is an animal shelter that does not kill healthy or treatable animals, reserving euthanasia for terminally ill animals or those considered dangerous. The no-kill movement represents the collective voice of all organizations that denounce unnecessary shelter killing and support finding loving homes for all animals in need.

The no-kill movement is driven by caregivers and organizations who specialize in services like high volume adoption, lifetime care, rescue, spay/neuter, etc. Their common goal is to save animals’ lives when there is a quality alternative to killing. Over the past decade, there has been tremendous momentum in the no-kill movement.

At this rate we could very well be a no-kill nation by 2025.
